The name Mereté comes from the blending of two Greek works: Meraki (may-rah-kee) and Areté (ahr-i-tey). Meraki means to do something with passion, love, creativity – to put something of yourself into what you are creating. Areté describes the notion of excellence and the tireless pursuit of one’s full potential. Combining these two concepts into the word Mereté is a statement about who the company is and what it aspires to be.

For decades, we have delivered highly effective hotel development and management services throughout the Northwest, exceeding the expectations of owners and investors, and fostering in our associates the next generation of hospitality leaders. Meraki and Areté are the touchstones of our company and our associates.

Mereté Hotel Management History

Mereté Hotel Management Group began in 1994 as Exeter Hospitality Associates, when co-founders Richard Boyles and Patrick McShane joined forces to develop hotels in the Eugene/Springfield area of Oregon.  Mereté quickly expanded their portfolio into other areas including Hillsboro and Medford, OR.  By 2007, the company had re-branded to InnSight Hotel Management Group, opened eight hotels, completed major expansions of current hotels, and oversaw two hotel renovations. In 2009 Marriott International selected Mereté as one of only eight management companies to earn the Partnership Circle Award, the highest honor Marriott can bestow to a management partner.  In 2019, Mereté Hotel Management was announced as the new name of the company, reflecting our passion for the work we do and our ongoing commitment to the pursuit of excellence.

Today, Mereté Hotel Management continues to pursue excellence in everything we do.
